Revoluution Media History

Erik David Carlson and Jonathan Craig founded Revoluution Media in 2002 as a way of utilizing their wealth of online media skills to help churches, organizations and small businesses increase their online presence. Since then, Revoluution Media has helped dozens of churches and organizations achieve their goals with some spectacular results.

Erik David Carlson

Erik grew up in Michigan, where he attended the art-intensive Cranbrook Kingswood until the age of 18. Erik went to Boston in 1996 to attend Tufts University, receiving a BA in English and moral philosophy. Erik worked as a technical writer, web designer, and graphic artist until co-founding Revoluution Media. Erik now heads up the Revoluution Media office in Chicago where he is a student at the Meadville Lombard Theological School at the University of Chicago pursuing a career in UU chaplaincy and parish ministry.

Erik was honored to serve the three UU congregations in the New Orleans area during the 2007-2008 academic year as intern minister.  Erik has recently been published as a contributing essayist to the 2008 publication Reverend X - How Gen X Ministers are Changing Unitarian Universalism.

Jonathan D. Craig

Jonathan grew up in both Georgia and Colorado. He attended Virginia Tech while playing soccer for the Hokies, then graduated with a BA in Philosophy along with a Technology, Arts, and Media minor from the University of Colorado in 2002. Jonathan then went to Boston to work in Electronic Communications for the Unitarian Universalist Association doing web design, server administration, and database handling. Jonathan now heads up the Colorado Revoluution Media office. Jonathan was also a Regional Organizing Consultant for the Young Adult and Campus Ministries office of the UUA until 2007.

Jonathan now heads up internet operations of the Interfaith Alliance as their Deputy Director of Electronic Communications.

Awards and Accomplishments

The principals of Revoluution Media were recognized by the UUA as the 2005 recipients of the Donna DiSciullo Award for Young Adult and Campus Ministry, for their work with FUUSE.com and for their unselfish efforts for the good of the Unitarian Universalist young adult and youth communities.

FUUSE also received the "Best Online Community" website award from Philocrites and UUpdates.net in 2005 and 2007, respectively.

Erik and Jonathan also helped to found the Church of the Younger Fellowship (http://uucyf.org) to meet the spiritual needs of 18-35 year old Unitarian Universalists and lead the membership and technology teams that have helped the CYF to grow at an astounding rate of more than a member a day since inception.

As a result of their efforts and the efforts of other dedicated young adults working on the project, the CYF was named the 2007 recipient of the Donna DiSciullo Award.
